FROM SCROLLING TO MAKING

We don't teach children to use AI. We teach them to create with it.

Children aged 9 to 14 — extending to 15+ — build things that work: a game, a website, a tool they actually use. They build it by describing it to an AI, with an adult beside them who does not need to know how to code.

And we would rather say so than put up a “coming soon”. The club's environment is still being built and the first pilot runs in autumn 2026. When there are creations, they will be here: the whole project, runnable, with the prompt that made it, what broke along the way, and the child's own words, uncorrected.

Boredom is the fork in the road

Consuming was always downhill and creating was always uphill. That is why the scroll wins: it isn't that children don't want to make things, it's that making them cost too much.

Vibe coding inverts that slope for the first time. A nine-year-old describes what they want and watches it work, in minutes. The distance between an idea and a finished thing has collapsed.

When the future is uncertain, the only thing you truly protect in a child is the ability to create. We don't teach AI. We teach authorship. AI is just the lever.

The full method

How a session works

Every project follows the same loop. We didn't invent it: it's Mitchel Resnick's Creative Learning Spiral (MIT Media Lab), with two additions of our own — describing it to the AI, and actually using it.

    Imagine

    The idea is the child's. Always. We never hand them a finished project to copy.

  2. 02

    Describe

    They tell the AI in their own words. This is the new literacy.

  3. 03

    Build

    The AI generates; the child watches it work. The adult never touches the keyboard.

  4. 04

    Play it

    Immediate payoff. In the game module, that's fifteen minutes playing their own.

  5. 05

    Improve it

    Something breaks. They learn to describe the problem instead of giving up. This is where the learning happens.

  6. 06

    Show it

    They show it and explain it. “I made this.”

Four ages, four programmes

A band is assigned by observable behaviour, not by date of birth: one Year 9 classroom has children from two different bands sitting side by side.

9-10

The one who discovers they can

They speak instead of typing: at this age the bottleneck is the keyboard, not comprehension. Short sessions, three or four “it works” moments in each.

11-12

The one who wants it to be theirs

They choose the subject and the look. The rule that changes everything appears: one change, one test.

13-14

The one who wants it to be credible

They build a playable game with rules and scoring, read some of the code, and debug by describing the symptom. They don't want it to look like a children's activity.

15+

The one who wants it to matter

Projects with a real audience: a client, an audit of an AI system, something published that people use. The assessor is no longer the teacher.

And what does the adult do?

In a school

The teacher facilitates; they don't code. They get a minute-by-minute run sheet for every session, the training to deliver it, and an environment where no student ever creates an AI account.

At home

You sit beside them. You don't need to know how to code and you're not giving a lesson: your job is to help them describe what they want and not give up when something breaks. The AI writes the code; you look after the curiosity.

  • Sessions of 45 to 90 minutes, with what to say written down
  • Your child creates no accounts: you create the profile
  • Everything ends in something played or used that same day
  • No homework, no grades, no infinite feeds

Safety and data, in four lines

  • No student creates an AI account. The request goes out from our server, with our key.
  • We collect no name, surname, email, photograph or date of birth from any student.
  • What we keep for 90 days are their instructions under an alias, so an adult can supervise them. Deleted on request.
  • The adult sees live what each child writes and what the AI answers.
